I've been in the IT industry for over 20 years now, and seemingly survived the experience relatively unscathed, although I sometimes wonder.

I ran an internet sevices business for a few years doing niche website hosting and email services which taught me a lot of good reasons why you would not want to be in the internet services game.  I still have some faithful customers from those days, but I'm not crazy enough to take on any new ones!

My interests are wide and varied, and this site will over time reflect that.  Don't be too surprised to find an article on here about a particularly nice quiche recipe right after something on cold fusion.

Currently my 'real job' as IT Manager for a company in Christchurch, New Zealand, and I have the good fortune to live in rural Canterbury.  Along with that I occasionally whore myself out as a consultant, and pretend to be a photographer every now and then.

On the side in my ample spare time I've decided to write this blog a bit, and I've got a link-shrinker service at http://lngz.org which is currently in private Beta.

This website name came about beause I used to run a BBS called 'The Trashcan' back in the days when 2400 baud was fast and downloading a 100k file was something we aspired to.

Lastly, here's a geeky icon because someone hasseled me about having a corrupt rss feed.
